Portfolio: Example-5 - images 04-12 of 24

(page 02)

The most important thing with this job was to be patient and concentrate on each of the stages involved in each of the sections in their own right. The stages for each section involved:

STAGE-1. Applying tape and bonding out over it to create a level playing field. Then waiting for that to dry before moving on to stage 2.

Example-5 : img 04 of 24. Bonding out one of the largest sections of the ceiling.
Example-5 : img 05 of 24. Bonding out a medium sized section of the ceiling.
Example-5 : img 06 of 24. The lowest level of ceiling sections bonded out.

STAGE-2. Applying blue grit to the area, and waiting for that to dry (24 hours) before moving on to stage 3. I used blue grit on this job because it is a superior bonding agent to the more commonly used pva. This is because it contains a fine aggregate that provides an improved key for the application of multi-finish plaster. Every little bit of bonding power helps - especially when plastering overhead, and with numerous awkward angles.

Example-5 : img 07 of 24. A section of the ceiling that has had blue grit applied.

STAGE-3. Applying two coats of multi-finish plaster.

Example-5 : img 08 of 24. A completed bottom section of the ceiling.
Example-5 : img 09 of 24. The first coat of multi-finish going on in one of the medium sized sections of the ceiling.
